Infrared Thermal Imaging

Certified infrared thermographer, Adam Lask, has the training from InterNACHI as well as the Infraspection Institute to scan your building for concerns. As a level 3 certified thermographer, Adam has the training to utilize Flir thermal imagers to find electrical defects and moisture intrusion. For commercial infrared inspection, please call our office at 815-978-7785. Infrared scans may lower insurance premiums, decrease downtime, provide a safer and more productive workplace, and increase your bottom line.

Electrical Scan

Electrical seen by Thermal Imaging

By viewing apparent temperature differences, inspectors can identify and document problems in electrical panels. Conductors in an electrical panel can become loose over time and begin to arc. If a conductor begins to arc, melting of the insulation will likely occur. Conductors also may have had a poor connection to begin with resulting in arcing. Overheated wires can also be an indicator of overloading the circuit with too much power. Thermal imaging can show these temperature differences so the issues may be identified before a fire results.

Moisture Intrusion

Thermal patters can exist when viewing a wet area with an infrared camera that shows temperature differences of the ceiling or wall. The wet area has less heat than the surrounding area due to evaporative cooling. This can show an inspector that there appears to be a roof or plumbing leak that needs further investigation. Using an infrared camera provides certain advantages in locating moisture problems.

Thermal imaging can find missing insulation and energy loss. However, this requires that certain parameters are met and conditions are not always ideal for this type of inspection. Therefore, identifying missing insulation and air leakage are not always part of the infrared inspection by Lask Inspection Group, LLC.
